Love me some hummus right now... have a little every day, but I try not to go overboard as I know the store bought ones have a decent amount of fat/oil. I haven't had any issues, started with sabra classic and the thickness was fine for me in the pureed stage. Kroger had some tubs of Tribe Swirl on sal for $1.99 last week, so I picked up a roasted red pepper, a salsa and a siracha. The texture seems a bit thinner than the sabra, but the taste is great. My wife buys a edamame hummus (it's green) that I tried, and enjoyed it as well. It had some sesame seeds on top, so I just avoided those.

I assume the spinach/artichoke is pretty soft in the hummus? I'd probably try it slowly and make sure it agrees.

I tried hummus yesterday- the consistency seemed good, but it came right back up. ????????

I am going to try again next week? It's weird because refried Beans go down well for me!

What the hell is Hummus? I keep reading about it, and I see it in the store, like 349583094583 flavors. I hear it's big in the middle east, and I am a pretty bland eater, any suggestion for a really mellow one to try?

Hummus is a dip made from ground chickpeas. It's not really spicy so buying some that's just plain would be safe. I also like it with extra garlic, sundries tomatoes or a bit of jalapeño. Sabra brand is my favorite, but I've also made it from scratch. It's just chickpeas, tahini (ground sesame), olive oil, dash of lemon juice & a bit of garlic. Blend until smooth.

So happy to see another plant based convert, there are not many of us on here :-)! Hopefully you will not mind me asking you some questions. I am now a vegan about 95% of the time since my surgery. Before that I was a strict vegan for almost a year. How well are you doing with your plant based lifestyle after the surgery with your Protein? What do you eat? Do you eat any grains, i.e. quinoa, etc.? When were you able to eat a salad, something I am craving...lol? My surgery was only 3 months ago, still trying foods and many make me vomit. Thanks in advance for your help. May I send you a friend request?

@@BLERDgirl Thank you for the explanation. I have never really been a chickpea fan, however, I have committed to trying everything at least once to see if any prior off limits foods have move from the dark side to light. I'll look into this. I saw it in a Ricotta Bake recipe, but that stuff sounded horrible.

I have been vegetarian probably 15/20 years now. I switched in the late 90's. I haven't had any issues getting in my protein. I supplement but also eat a lot of eggs & Greek yogurt. Otherwise I get my protein from whole grains like quinoa and dark green veg. I had s super easy surgical experience and a sleeve seemingly made of steel. I was allowed to eat anything as tolerated at 6weeks post op. I eat salads nearly daily. Raw veg has never caused a problem for me. I am considering going vegan once I hit goal.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
