My surgery is November 10th and so many mixed emotions. I am excited but anxious regarding each step along the way (pre-op diet, flight to where my surgery is taking place, surgery, post-op diet, flight back, recovery, going back to work, cooking for my family etc). I am just reminding myself to take it one step at a time and to focus on the current step in front of me rather than jumping ahead and worrying about a later step. So far this seems to be working. :)

I'm having my surgery on Nov. 9th as well I'm in Jersey. Good luck to you. I'm really nervous about starting my preop. diet Monday. I have to drink 2- 3 shakes and one small meal.

My surgery is also on the 9th, i also drink 2-3 Protein drinks and was told to have a cup of homemade chicken broth (which i am cooking now for the entire week) or cream of chicken or mushroom. We both start tomorrow :)

I got a letter in the mail yesterday telling me to do 3-4 Protein Shakes and 1 meal (meat&veggie) a day until the day before. Clear liquids the day before. Still nervous...my date is 11/9.

I don't have a time yet.I'll get that when I meet with surgeon on the 29th! I start my preop 14 day liquid diet on Monday. I'm also having endoscopy on Monday morning (10/26) at CMC-Mercy , bone density and nutrition counseling on the 27th. THIS IS GETTING REAL really fast!!! I just got the call that I was approved for surgery and giving me a surgery date on Friday (10/23) morning!!!!
I meet my surgeon on Nov. 4 before my surgery that monday. Please let me know if there is anything important that we need to know.

I am also Nov. 9th here in Ohio. This has been a year long journey that I thought would never end. I was so excited up until the day I was scheduled, then I got really nervous. Wishing you all the best

AZ, November 9th, checking in! I work nights, and will be working on the 8th, going home to change, shower, drop off my car, then heading to the hospital. I'm excited, but this liquid only diet is rough!

Day 3 of my liquid diet and i have a headache :( i am craving tacos :( i am going to buy a jigzaw puzzle to keep my mind off of this hunger!

Try drinking more Water to help with the headache. I used to fast "back in the day" and the extra Water usually helped. Have you stopped drinking caffeine? That can give you a terrible migraine! I'm on day 2, because I didn't get the letter telling me to start until Monday. I am just ready to get this over with. Feel so bad for those that have had to go through the rigorous process of dealing with insurance. Gotta be rough.

My surgery was Nov 9th in Omaha, NE. Things have been going fairly well. My pain has skyrocketed in the last 2 days though. I am also sweating profusely everytime I sleep. Is that normal? I'm trying very hard to get my protien and clear liquids in. Popcicles are my friend every time I have to take pain meds. Anyone else experiencing these things? And my tummy is super bruised on my left side. Icing it to try lower the swelling.

Not normal. Please check in with your doctor. Sweats can be a symptom of fever, which can indicate infection or leak. It could be nothing but it's better to be safe than sorry.

@Kirstenkek. I agree with @kinkymoo. You should be seen by a doctor. I was sleeved on the 10th and haven't experienced anything you are describing. My pain is worse since I have been home that is only because I am moving around more and doing more but it is bearable pain. No night sweats either.

Get checked out just to be safe. Hope all turns out well

I was sleeved on 11/10 and am on clear fluids for an entire week. Anyone else? I thought for sure I would get to start Protein Shakes after a couple of days of clear fluids....

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
