My particular diet is called clear liquid so no Protein Shakes unfortunately. But I have lost 20 lbs in 7 days. Which is awesome! I will definitely let you know how I feel after surgery and any tips I learn or anything! I'm happy to have a sleeve friend :)

Just an FYI, you can get clear Protein. Try Isopure or ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates. Also, bone broth is clear and has more protein than regular broth.< /p>

(I am not in MO, but my mom is from the Bootheel.)

I am from MO as well and am just starting my journey. My insurance requires 3 months of nutrition counseling and a psych evaluation. Those are all scheduled beginning in Jan. Will be anxious to hear how you all are doing

Hi friends. I got my surgery on Monday. Surgery day and my stay in the hospital was pretty uneventful. They were able to do one incision around the belly button. I was in a little bit of pain but not too bad. Walking really did help a lot! After coming home they gave me some pain killers which I have only needed to take at night to help me sleep. I was asked to get down at least 64oz clear liquid and 15-30 grams clear Liquid Protein. The Water for me is no problem but the Protein water is NASTY!!! Like it's worse to me than cough Syrup but I've been getting it down. Today is day 4 and for the first time I feel I have something stuck in my throat. I'm not sure what's that all about but it makes me pretty uncomfortable. Just wanted to give you all an update!

Glad you are doing well. I am just at the beginning of this. My first NUT appointment is the 18th...then the psych later at the end of the month. Insurance requires 3 months of nutrition counseling.

I'm Blue Springs mo. Going to Lenexa for my sleeve. First appointment is next Monday but I am self pay so I think my surgery will be in 4-6 weeks. At least that is my guess. I'm so ready. Luckily my best friend is doing this with me so we will be going on this journey together!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
