I had surgery on 10/12. I had a little pain the first few days that got better. So I stopped taking all pain meds. Now yesterday my main incision area is killing me when I go to move. I'm sure this is normal but frankly need someone to tell me that. Sorry to sound so needy just tired of this feeling and tired of sleeping on my back already.

Thank you!!!!

It is completely normal. It will gradually get better over the next few weeks. Remember to brace your abdomen when you move, especially going to stand up, sit down, bend over, or twist from one side to the other.

It is normal, as your body is still healing. I understand not wanting to be on heavy duty pain meds, but have you considered extra strength Tylenol to take the edge off? Especially if the pain is keeping you from getting in your walking

I went through this too...stopped taking pain meds, I did rely on liquid tylenol though for incision pain.

Totally normal. I was sitting and sleeping in my recliner for the first couple weeks. The best thing that helped me was my fiance would push the recliner towards the floor when I needed to get up so that I wasn't having to use my ab muscles to get up. I also had a pillow pushed against my tummy pretty much anytime I moved. It does get way better. I'm finally sleeping in the bed now and can move with no pain or discomfort (I'm only 3 weeks out).

When will the incision pain be minimal? I was almost in tears this morning from it ????

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
