I had mine the same day! Glad you aren't feeling too bad. Today has been a lot better for me. The past few days have been really rough. I feel you on the reflux. I am having the same issue. If you are interested in a buddy feel free to message me! It would be great to have someone that is on the same stages as me.

Hi Betsy! who did your surgery, Dr. Williams? I've been walking around the block (2-3 times a day) and trying to get the liquid in. 2 Protein Shakes a day, can of broth, sugar free Water ice, water with crystal light. My follow up is 11/11. How about you?

Oh never mind. I just realized you went to Abington. So it wasnt same doc! :)

Wow, you are doing way better on the liquids then I am! Today I got 2 cups of hot tea, a Protein Shake, and half a sugar free Water ice in. I am slacking in the liquids department. My follow up is on Wednesday. I can't wait to be off the liquid only stage! I am not hungry at all but my brain keeps telling me I want something to eat that I can chew. It's driving me nuts!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
