mngreeneyes 674 Posted October 21, 2015 Has anyone tried to get their supplements covered by insurance? What does it usually take? I need to remember to ask tonight at WLS Support Group. pam
retzlpa 98 Posted October 21, 2015 I just tried with Insure Nutrition, which advertises on this site. Had a call from them yesterday but have not heard if my insurance will cover it or not. I think its a long shot but one worth trying. I will let you know if it works.
mngreeneyes 674 Posted October 21, 2015 Thanks retzpa. Somewhere I heard that if they are prescribed then insurance will cover them, but I don't know how to get a prescription for vitamins!

BonnieGail 10 Posted April 10, 2016 Insure will also provide bariatric chewable Vitamins if covered by insurance and the dr signs the prescription. They send optisource chewables!I did this, but when I picked up from the pharmacy it was full price. Insurance did not cover. mngreeneyes 674 Posted April 12, 2016 I eventually got it so that mine are not covered by insurance, but I can use my Flex $$ to get reimbursed for my supplements. It helps, although I still have to have the $$ up front. pam
TristanNicole 169 Posted April 12, 2016 Yes, to have insurance even consider covering it has to be prescribed by a doctor, but even then, most insurance wont pay for it, you can still get it from the pharmacy but you'll have to pay out of pocket, and sometimes its just cheaper to get them OTC. swinglifeaway 64 Posted May 12, 2016 I was able to get a prescription for Vitamins that are mailed each month and a prescription for the scar cream and Protein Shakes that are mailed each month. My Dr. helped me with the vitamins and I applied online for the scar cream and Protein shakes with Insure Nutrition. After I applied, they called to see what I was interested in, they verified what insurance would cover, and faxed the prescription to my Dr.
