I'm starting to get really nervous my sugery is this coming Monday the 26th.

I'm nervous that I don't know enough or have studied enough for life after surgery (although I have read book and read posts and posts)

I'm also nervous about the pain after, I have a high pain tolerance (I have read that it less painful then gallbladder removal and I had that done).

I'm also extremely nervous because I am leaving my children with grandma for 10 days to have this done. My husband and I are going to TX for this. I have left. Jy children with grandma before but it was not this long. I have wrote her a 6 page book on how to take care of them and the worse part is it is my husband's mom and I so wish my mom was still alive because I would ask her in a heartbeat over MIL. (Last time she watched them she forgot to give my one son his antibiotics and he brook out in hives and had to go to the hospital, she also let them stay up late and sleep on and take naps at dinner time and the cycle went on) I think she is making me the most nervous. (I have four children ages 7, 6, and twin 4 year olds.

Thanks for letting me vent I hope the nerves go down a little bit.

No need to be nervous! The fact that you have studied AT ALL for life after surgery probably puts you ahead of 90% of the people who have this procedure done. You will be fine.

As for the pain, I won't lie, it hurt! I was in more pain post-op than I thought I would be. I guess I even had a few choice words for some nurses about how I felt when I woke up, though I don't remember that, (they told me about it later, and fortunately thought it was funny!). However, that all passed quickly. It's all just a distant memory as I come up on one year post-op, and all completely worth it!

As for the kids, they will be fine! Your MIL managed to raise your husband, and I assume he turned out okay. Besides, staying with grandma is all about staying up too late, eating the wrong things at the wrong times and just generally not doing what you are supposed to when you are supposed to do it, otherwise no kids would agree to it! Besides, kids are resilient. They will recover from this ordeal quicker than you. No worries!

Really, just concentrate on following your doctor's advice. Everything else will fall into place. You have got this! Best of luck!

Just take a deep breath. Both you and your family are going to be fine. And always remember that you're doing this to be healthy, so you'll live longer, and can be around when your kids have kids. You'll do fine. ????

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
