betterme38 275 Posted October 21, 2015 Ok so this Psych eval has really got me nervous... I have been to a counseling before for my marriage yrs ago. I was molested as a child are they gonna wanna know all that stuff? I mean what do they ask? Some I see have to answer multiple questions some take an hr some 4 some seen multiple times. I think this has got me stressed out more than anything. Maybe I just need to quit freaking out and go with the flow so to speak. Ok well that's it just wondering what they ask n wondering if I need to be prepared to give my life history to this person.
JuliePro 0 Posted October 21, 2015 I just had mine done yesterday. I was surprised how simple it was. They didn't ask deep questions just simple ones. Have you ever wanted to hurt your self? Have you ever wanted to die? What is your weight history? It was pretty simple really.
betterme38 275 Posted October 21, 2015 That wouldn't be bad then. Maybe I'm stressing over nothing, I do that a lot. ????
mistycal 81 Posted October 21, 2015 (edited) Mine asked simple questions, he did ask how my childhood was, if my parents were together.... But he didn't probe into it so i kept it simple, good but they are divorced now... I didn't go into all the details of who why how or when... Lol The questionnaire I did was finish the sentences, about 50 of them like "I feel happen when.., I get anxiety thinking about.."., I randomly finished about 20... He didn't seem to care.. BLERDgirl 6,417 Posted October 21, 2015 No it should just be basic questions designed to get you views on weight loss, your expectations, etc.... This shouldn't be deep therapy designed to know your past history. It's just to access your mental state surrounding this surgery.
carres1973 0 Posted October 21, 2015 Mine is three-pronged: First meet with psychiatrist/psychologist for initial questions. As others have said, they were very surface questions. I suppose if you REALLY divulged a lot, they would go further. As with most therapists, it's all in how much you share. Second was answer what seemed like 500 question test - think high school test, fill in the bubbles with a number 2 pencil. Questions were BIZARRE - do you feel you are being watched? Have you been abducted by aliens? Third was meet with psychiatrist/psychologist for follow-up after test. My results were normal (I like to point this out to my hubby!!), so it was, once again, a superficial conversation.
The Candidate 3,215 Posted October 21, 2015 (edited) Mine was very easy. There were no written tests. It's was just a pleasant comfortable one on one conversation. She asked about my support system, my knowledge of the procedure and my expectations. My past diet and health history. We talked about family. It took like 15 minutes, and at the end she said she would be recommending me for surgery. I was anxious going in too, but it was for nothing. Easy peasy. Good luck! dede0314 356 Posted October 21, 2015 Mine was pretty simple. I was really nervous about it, but when it was finished I was like that's it lol. To me they basically want to make sure you understand its a life change and that you understand the surgery.
