Hello all - it's finally my turn to post a success story!

I didn't post for my first goal, but it was when I hit the 200 pound mark. This past weekend, I obtained another goal by losing 72 pounds and that is weighing 157, which is my lightest weight as an adult. It took me just over four months to obtain this goal and as I look back, every obstacle I have encountered has been worth it!

Like others, I struggle to get my fluids in, I struggle to get my Protein in, I struggle with cravings and I have been struggling with dumping. Some say what I deal with is not dumping because it always relates to meat and not sugar, but I consider it dumping. I have found very few meats that I can tolerate/digest (pork loin, turkey burger and veggie burger). The list of meat that I cannot tolerate is much larger and makes me sad because meat is such a good source of Protein (venison, hamburger, ham, fish, beef (roast) and chicken). The only good struggle I have had is keeping up with my wardrobe going from a size 16 to a size 6!

I am attaching a couple pictures with stats, showing my progress over the past four months and look forward to seeing everyone elses progress on this site!

Woot woot! Congratulations! You have to be over the moon.

One bit of advice....keep trying those dense Proteins. As time goes by you will find that your body has healed enough and will ultimately allow you to eat them again. I promise! Happens to me all the time.

I will try every couple of weeks. In the beginning I did not tolerate beef or pork of any kind as well as eggs.

With beef I even had trouble with ground beef in the beginning. I can now eat beef, ground beef, tenderloin and anything that is fall apart tender. I don't do well with the tougher, drier cuts of meat at all.

I mostly stick to beef tenderloin, ground beef, pork tenderloin and again anything that is fall off the bone tender like country style ribs.

eggs are still ridiculously difficult for me however this week I tried one poached and it worked great. Eggs make me sad because I used to love them and they really are so good for us. I try them every couple of weeks and I have noticed that what might work this week may not work next week.

I have done extremely well with chicken and turkey since the beginning but it is important that they are not overlooked and dried out.

Fish of course works very well, again they cannot be all dried out. I love orange roughy because it is so tender, moist and non fishy.

      Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
      What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
