Tina1969 10 Posted October 21, 2015 Did anyone else not do well on liquid diet before surgery? I'm so nauseous.
Bigvic842 9 Posted October 21, 2015 You gotta stick with it. They need your liver to shrink for the surgery.
Dar200 285 Posted October 21, 2015 @@Tina - I've had some questions nausea but drinking cool Water helps me. I almost felt like I was dehydrated. What type of pre-op plan are you on?
Dar200 285 Posted October 21, 2015 You said liquid but I have noticed that some doctors require a specific Protein liquid. I love Premier Protein in chocolate and I just discovered Isopure (in grape frost) at my grocery store. The Isopure is radically different than the type of Protein Shakes I had been using. It's premade (so is Premier Protein), comes in a variety of fruit favors, has a lot of protein, and it is really yummy and filling to me. Those are my suggestions for Protein Drinks. My other suggestion is that you call your surgeon and see if you can get a medication for nausea. It doesn't seem to me that you would want to go into surgery feeling weak and nauseated. I hate that nausea feeling!
Tina1969 10 Posted October 21, 2015 Carnation instant Breakfast sugar free 60 calories 12 carbs with Water 4 a day and broth 15 calories up to 3 a day. Jello 15 calories , Popsicle 15 calories. Equaling about 400 a day. Definitely not the 1300 I was getting use to pre liquid diet.
Dar200 285 Posted October 24, 2015 Have you tried some other Protein Drinks?
Tina1969 10 Posted October 24, 2015 Those are only shakes allowed pre surgery.
Dar200 285 Posted October 24, 2015 How much longer on pre op for you?

Dar200 285 Posted October 25, 2015 At least it's not too far off. My only other suggestion would be to contact your surgeon's office about getting some kind of anti nausea medication. I have my surgery in about 30 hours. Good luck with yours!
Sojourner 2,446 Posted October 26, 2015 Nausea is one of the symptoms of dehydration. Something you definitely want to avoid. Try your best to get all of your shakes and especially some Water. I ended up in the hospital once because I did not recognize the symptoms for what was happening. I hope you feel better....always a good idea to call your surgeon's office to get their instructions.
