Wow! Thank you all SO much! This is really helping me feel much better. I want this for my health. And I know I can't do it without the surgery. I want to be excited but my nerves keep getting the best of me!

Be excited...

It's possibly the best thing you've ever done for yourself...

EVER!!

If it's any consolation I live in California and I don't know one woman of any weight (young or old) who hasn't had a little something done...some, a whole lot of everything! So if you do end up with loose skin have a little nip tuck! It's not that big a deal anymore. :)

I was told it can take up to 2 years for skin to tighten. The younger you are the better off you will be. Your skin hasnt been stretched as long as mine and will still retain elasticity. You have to keep hydrated and eat right.

I lost a lot of weight >110 pounds when I was about 30. I didn't have any loose skin and looked fantastic!! Fast forward a few years and I gained it all back.

I am now 44 years old and had my sleeve 1 1/2 years ago- have lost 121 & have had some loose skin this time around. My arms have done fine, legs are ok (small amount of loose skin in very upper thighs), boobs look a little saggy, face and neck tightened up great, my stomach on the other hand is a bag of saggy flesh!!

I would take my loose skin over being overweight any day!!!

You are young so maybe your skin will snap back wonderfully!!

The consensus on loose skin has been slow and steady with excersize will help you no be too saggy but everyone will have some areas of loose skin you will have to just see where you are in the race of wl.

Before pic is obvious

Pic in green top/jeans is post weight loss, no Spanx or compression garments (with spanx, i looked very shapely even preplastics)

The final two are post plastics.

These photos were very late 40s.

I started out over 300# and am 5'5"

I can't speak for anyone else - but I liked how I looked in the green top (pre plastics but post goal) a heck of a lot better than the before picture.

Don't fear "loose skin" - it is already streteched, losing weight didn't cause it, being obese caused it. Your health and life improve SO MUCH that excess skin is 5% problem, not the 100% problem that morbid obesity is.

To be naked and morbidly obese or to be naked and have loose skin. None of us are here to be a bikini/speedo models...(well maybe a few) lol If you can afford plastics its a good option...

You could always date another weight loss surgery patient. ;)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
