Hair is growing back...am I done losing?

Recommended Posts

So me and my hair stylist noticed I have tons of little hairs sprouting everywhere, which I figured was just regrowth.

I'm still about 47lbs from my ultimate goal....Have I just stabilized and won't lose anymore? I still losing weekly...I had surgery in Feb 2015.

Any input would be great! I've just always heard the hair comes back when youre done losing...

My hair started coming back before I was done losing. My new hairs are a few inches now!

My hair started coming back before I was at goal, and recently fell out all over again when I've been at goal for months. I tend to think it is more a matter of stress and the initial shock to the body of the reduced calories and when you adjust to your new diet, your body does as well and your hair grows back.

I agree...as you eat more and the initial shock to the system is over, the hair starts to come back.

LOL! No, hair regain isn't caused by stopping losing weight.

hair regain starts again pretty much on schedule after WLS. Hair loss after WLS is caused by the stress of surgery. X months later (typically 4-5 months after it starts coming out) it starts regrowing.

You need to read the info at this link -- it'll explain it very well:

You can also google telogen effluvium and read up more on this phenomenon.

And keep losing the 47 pounds you still have to go. :)

Thank you all!

Those answers make sense and I figured it was just my body adjusting..again haha. However you just hear over and over that once your weight stabilizes the hair comes back! Of course you always hear that from the surgeon and nuts who have never actually gone through the process ^__^

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
