Calorie intake vs calories burned

Recommended Posts

I've never gotten the hang of figuring this it and I'm hoping someone on here can help me figure it out.

If I'm burning 400 calories a day at the gym, how many calories should I be eating in a day to make sure I'm still going to lose and not go into starvation mode because I'm not getting enough.

I've kind of hit another stall..weight loss has really slowed down. I'm a little over 8 months out. I changed up my work out routine, something I do when I hit a stall. I'm really loving what I changed it to but I'm burning alot more calories now.

I've been wondering about this, too.

I log my exercise into My Fitness Pal, but I never count it toward my available calories for the day (I usually log it at the end of the day so that it doesn't get confusing).

If all I did for exercise in the day is take my dogs on a 20-minute walk, that's one thing. But yesterday, for example, I took a Water aerobics class and an aqua toning class back to back. I definitely felt hungrier afterwards, and ended up going over my 800-calorie limit by 20 calories because I had a Quest bar in the evening. But if I did 1 hour and 45 minutes of working out, is that OK? I know I wouldn't even physically be able to eat the entire 485 calories worth of food that MFP says I burned (that's another thing entirely--I think it really overestimates how many calories you burn).

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
