Low Cal Snacks for Travel

Recommended Posts

My NUT recommended KRAVE jerkey. They have beef, turkey, pork. I really like it. It is more tender than most so easy to eat. I like the Chili Lime beef jerkey and the Chili Garlic Beef Jerkey.

Also, how about some dried fruit like dried apricots? tuna pouch? Individual pouches of peanut or almond butter? (I recently found Barney's Butter Almond butter in individual packs that is only 1 Tbsp so a smaller serving than normal thus lower calories / carbs, etc.) Babybel cheeses? (I feel like these don't have to be refrigerated but not 100% positive on that.)

cheese, nuts, blueberries, boiled eggs and pieces of grilled chicken. All portioned in small baggies. Yeah, I'm gone from my house 12 to 13 hours daily. I'm am expert at this. You can even put a salad in a baggie and it all gets tossed in the trash when you're done!

@@Daisee68 I've been meaning to try Crave. I'm glad to hear it's good! I like dried fruit but I thought it tended to be kind of high in sugar?

@@finediva good suggestions! Can you keep chicken and eggs in a bag without refrigeration for that long?

I prefer Power Crunch bars. They have about 200 calories but you could do some walking in the airport or walk the escalator a few times to burn off some calories if you feel the need.

I swear Indie, I don't stalk you! I'm going on travel for 2 weeks Saturday for work, and I'm nervous.. I'm planning on bagging up some of my Protein powder as well.

I LOVE the power crunch bars. LOVE THEM. They are > than Quest bars to me!

For those of you who are visual, here is what I'm taking on my 12 hours of air travel this weekend (I always assume the airlines will lie about when we will actually take off and land)

@@Indieflickers - the dried fruit is high in carbs so you can't eat much of it, but my endocrinologist recommended dried apricots for the Fiber. I only have 2 pieces at a time when I do have it and then I try to have it with a little Protein at the same time.

@@Chrystee haha I've always wanted a stalker! When I went on vacation to the middle of nowhere this summer, I definitely brought a tupperware container full of Protein powder with me. I also brought a 12 pack of Quest bars. haven't tried the Power Crunch bars is because they're higher in calories and lower in Protein than the Quest bars. They look really good though!

@@OKCPirate looks like a good haul! I've decided on two quest bars and a tuna to go pack.

@@Daisee68 that's good to know. I may have to try those!

@Indieflickers. I carry an insulated lunch bag daily. I freeze a water bottle every night and add it to the bag so everything stays nice and cold all day long. 15 months after surgery I had to figure out how to eat and be on the road all day long. It works for me. I will not go to bed until my food is ready for the next day. Also, I never have to stop for food. I just open my lunch bag and munch along! Sometimes I eat everything and sometimes food comes back, but the security of having it is so comforting.

Almonds, turkey Jerky, tuna pks with mayo and crackers ( no refrigerator needed ) and my personal favorite, Sommersaults ! Crunchy little compressed sunflower seed Snacks, my favorites are the Dutch Cocoa and the Pepper ones. Mmmmmmm. Also, ive never done it myself, but you can dry your own fruit in the oven. No preservatives, but at least you have control over it, etc. Same with homemade energy bites. Good luck !

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
