Greek yogurt:( yuck !

Recommended Posts

I am not a fan of yogurt but my NUT say it's very important to eat for Protein. I break down and buy some and use no calorie sweeter just as recommended.... Seriously wanted to vomit!! I need help with this... Any suggestions? I plan on trying a bite a day so that I can get used to it.

Try it with some honey...

Yes, honey is high in sugar, but it's the Protein that you're looking at...
Honey definitely takes the edge off the tangy yogurt...

If you don't like it, then don't eat it. You're a grown adult, the nut works for you, and she should help you find other ways to get your Protein in. There are many vegans and lactose intolerant patients that get along just fine without yogurt. I happen to like Greek yogurt, but if someone was telling my I HAD to eat turnips or liver I would tell them to go pound sand.

Ditto. I LOVE greek yogurt and since it's a good source of Protein I eat a lot of it. The goal is to find good, clean (meaning not heavily processed) sources of Protein that are easily digestible. Go to the market and start reading labels. May be try cottage cheese or ricotta baked with a little shredded cheese.

I don't like yogurt either, I think it tastes like flavored cold cream, but I love Noosa yogurt ! A unique product, so good ! Only about 8 flavors, each one has a different amount of Protein, so google for more info. I personally love the coconut, my hubby likes the blueberry. Mmmmmmm. And while I dont eat it daily, I still get plenty of protein in almonds, lean meats, Beans , raw spinach, etc

Not a big fan of yogurt and never ate it. Still managed to lose 150 lbs. and with the help of Biotin and Protein powder, didn't lose all my hair either.

If you are talking about plain greek yogurt, it does take time to get used to it. I used to add Peanut Butter, or Protein Powder to mine. Then I started adding Torani Syrup. Now I have started using it to replace mayo in my tuna salad. I use a little lemon pepper in the yogurt and mix 2 tablespoons with 4 oz tuna. I think it rocks!

I have included a recipe for a Blueberry smoothie that uses Greek Yogurt in a short article I wrote on Bariatric Surgery. It is available at http://www.breadandbutterscience.com/Surgery.pdf

In the later stages of weight loss, I used it as a Protein supplement. But this option may not be advisable immediately after surgery.

I think it depends on the brand of greek yogart - my favorite is The Greek Gods - I even like their plain one - I use it to add various things to it - I normally buy the honey/vanilla or strawberry/honey - I recently got their black cherry and added chocolate Protein to it makes it kinda taste like chocolate covered cherries. :) I hope you find something you like to substitute. Greek Gods is the only one I like really the others are kinda iffy...

It's on my 2 week liver shrinking diet and well as apart of the plan a few weeks out of wls surgery. I'm not looking for an excuse to not eat it and would really like to find a way to enjoy it. It's very thick and tangy even after adding the sweetener. I have honey and will give that a try.

I've found I can only eat the oikos triple 0 peach or strawberry. I can not stand any other flavors lol. I just tasted a few until I found the ones I could stand.

I'm not much on yogurt, but I did stumble on that Oikos Triple Zero Greek stuff during the months leading up to my pre-op diet.

I stress that I don't care for yogurt in general.....but this stuff is great.

I'm glad I found out about it. It needs nothing extra to taste really good.

I have heard several people say that so I think I will give it a try.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
