I do not feel like I have any restriction

Recommended Posts

When I eat I do not feel any pain or fullness. I have accidentally taken a big gulp of Water and didn't have any pain. A couple of times I have eaten 3 or 4 teaspoons back to back and had no pain or fullness. Wondering if maybe my sleeve isn't as tight as it should be.

Sounds to me like you're healing nicely.

How long post surgery are you?

What are you eating?

Liquids/soft foods tend to sit much more comfortably in the sleeve than the firmer foods later down the track.

I didn't experience any pain at all, nor any sense of restriction until I started on the firmer foods.

Once I was on those, it quickly became apparent that my ability to eat large amounts had become greatly reduced.

Of course, this is simply my experience...

Others will have a different reply..

Ultimately, if you;re concerned, talk to your surgeon/support people...

They generally know their stuff..

Kinda...

You are just healing well. The only pain I had swallowing liquids was the first time I swallowed something and it was because it was ice Water. If you are healing well and don't have much swelling nothing should hurt. 4 spoon fulls is probably less than 2 oz so that shouldn't hurt either. liquids start emptying almost instantly to your intestines, so they shouldn't trigger restriction.

When you start soft foods you will feel restriction right away. Do not let the ease of liquids fool you into taking bigger bites or eating faster when you start soft foods.

I am 14 days post op. Im on liquids for 3 weeks. I can have pudding, which I have had and I didnt feel in restriction with that either. I had cream Soups and no restriction feeling either. I was a bit worried that if Im not feeling restriction how would not over eat later one?

Once you get to more "solid" foods, you'll feel it. You're still very swollen and have cut nerves from the surgery. Plus all that liquidy type food just goes right through the sleeve. I could drink from day one with no pain or restriction and had the same fears. Once I started to eat real food, I totally felt the restriction. You will too, don't worry!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
