So, I am 6 months post op and feeling great! I know what I have accomplished this far is amazing but for the last month, I have seen very little to no progress in my weight loss. I am still focusing on eating the right things, but I admit some have fallen to the wayside. I haven't been drinking my Protein Shakes, but still focus on my Protein intake with food. I work out maybe once or twice a week, but know that I can increase that as well.

So, I guess I need a kick in the ass to get on it again. Is this common to slow down at the 6 month mark? I know everyone is different and I can get back on a better track. For the most part, I feel confident in the things that I am doing, but just need some good, honest advice to how I can get this going again!

Congratulations on your weight loss so far and for following your program. I just had my six month follow-up appointment so we are at the same place.

Does weight loss slow down at the six month mark? I don't know. I do know that I do not lose at a constant rate and that stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process.

Just follow your program.

Embrace the Stall!

I am nearing my 6 month anniversary mark and although it sounds like you could make some changes, you may need to also consider that the honeymoon period may be ending...hence the sluggish weight loss result. Why not try getting back to the basics and increase your physical activity to 3-4x weekly?

Thanks @@Inner Surfer Girl that post that you sent the link for is amazing! Like I said, I know that there are some things that I can kick up a notch, and definitely am proud of where I have come from. I liked that your post mentioned moaning over these things because you are SO RIGHT! I needed to focus more on that. So, thank you!

So true @@AngelaWilliamsMD I do think that the "honeymoon" phase is over, so now the true test of what I do with this is starting. I just needed to be reminded of that again. And, yes increasing my activity I think is exactly what I need to do! Thanks!

I am nearing my 1 year anniversary, and met my goal weight 2 months ago. I had a lot of stalls along the way, all of which I thought were the end of the world. But every time my weight loss started again. Every time! You have nothing to worry about, except of course following your diet. Keep up the good work, you have got this!

Stalls are part of it, in my experience at least - I lost in steps. But you sound like you've answered the question. Get yourself moving/exercising more and back on track. Back to basics - Protein first, tracking food, Water Water water...you know how it goes, lol. I bet that will get the scale moving in the right direction again :-)

If I look back at the year it took me, the weight loss was pretty consistent. It didn't stop at 6 months, but it was work!

You've done an awesome job!! Keep it going :-)

My month 6 sucked too.... very little weight loss but I did notice lots of changes in my clothes. pants that were tight are now loose and all of a sudden my stomach got smaller around. So no weight loss but my body did change. I think.... I think... I gained a lot of muscles this month since I did kick up more exercise so that may be the cause.

I agree with @@Inner Surfer Girl - Embrace it. I am sure the weight loss will come again.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
