Food aversion during 90 day diet?

Recommended Posts

I'm only a week into my 90 day diet for insurance approval. I have food aversion like you wouldn't believe, eating has become a chore and some days I have only taken in 800 calories because I'm just not hungry and it's difficult to force myself. I know this sounds silly and it's so early in the game. I'm on a 1200-1500 calorie diet with 90g of Protein as the goal. I get the protein for sure, but again I am having issues with the eating aspect. :(

I've had the same problem. For me I think it has to do with my carb addiction. When I eat high Protein low carb I feel energized and healthy for about a week. Then I don't want to eat all that protein and I feel like I'm being bad if I eat carbs. meat will just sort of gross me out. It happened in my second week and I started feeling so weak, and I noticed in my food journal I was down to about 700 or 800 calories a day I thought, this is not good for me. I can't go into surgery feeling this rotten. So I stated adding some carbs back in, then more protein and it took about a week for me to feel ok again. The thing that helped me the most was to add another one or two protein drinks to each day. I ended up losing 17 pounds. In four weeks. I stumbled on what really worked for me. The shake I always have is chocolate Premier Protein. I'm on my last week before surgery and that is what I'm having each day along with small serving of veggies and some chicken or turkey. My surgeon usually has someone on the pre-op diet for two weeks but told me to do one week and he's ready to do the surgery. I hope it goes well. Have you found a Protein Drink you like yet? I tried Isopure grape frost yesterday. So good. Both the Isopure that comes in fruit flavor sand the Premier Protein are ready made. No mixing involved. I guess I had heard that fluids, protein and Vitamins are the areas that are critical after surgery so much that I just headed that direction. I hope this helps you some.

Yeah maybe Protein drinks may be the answer. I went to Whole Foods, perused their Protein shake section and chose samples of ones that met the requirements. Some have been super nasty but a few I liked. I'll try the Isopure though for sure. I'm eating like I've already had the surgery but I definitely need more calories in me. Going to start my Vitamins this week because I know that'll make me feel better too.

I thought I would try adding in the Protein drinks because I'll be using them a lot pre-op and post-op. I'm just glad they did the trick for me.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
