wenonah 0 Posted July 16, 2007 Hello, Relatively new to this forum. I was banded in Mexico on 5/4/07 and had a relatively flawless experience. I had a hard time finding a fill doc in Ohio, but have found one and did have my first 1.25cc. fill. I suppose I just need to be patient but I am not losing as I thought I would. I started out at 225 and am now 210. I am finding soooo many foods that I just can't eat. Hamburger, raw carrots, bread, (of any sort), most crunchy veggies (which I absolutely adore) and am now wondering if I made a mistake (at times). I miss eating horribly. Does anyone have any experience that is similar to mine. I HATE that sliming, spit up thing. It concerns me because I am afraid I will do something to the band. I have to eat slowly I know, but will I ever be able to tolerate most foods? Any comments, insights, or suggestions are more than welcome.
TerriDoodle 6 Posted July 16, 2007 I've had to give up a few foods that I loved as well, but the trade-off for me has certainly been worth it. Maybe it is not for you. But jeez....go to any grocery store or look in any cookbook and look at all the foods out there! For me it was just a matter of finding some NEW favorites. As far as your weight loss goes, It seems good to me! 15# in two months (for old ladies like us) isn't so bad at all! You didn't have that much to lose to begin with, so you can't compare yourself fairly to those that have 100+ to lose. Besides, it is what it is...don't fight it. Relax and enjoy the ride. Find new foods that work for you and give this band a chance. It's way to early to be having regrets. That's my $0.02.
wenonah 0 Posted July 16, 2007 Terri, Thank you for the insights. I appreciate it. I felt better just reading it. I suppose you are right. I wish I could find a lap band support group in my area. Thanks for the encouragement. I just hope I don't have to give up soooo many foods. You are right about the age thing. I just doesn't melt like it used to!!! TerriDoodle 6 Posted July 16, 2007 Hang around this wonderful board for awhile. I can't imagine how the support you get from any group could be any better than this place. Besides, it's open 24/7!!! Welcome!
KtKt 0 Posted July 16, 2007 Don't have regrets... just get reading! I bet you'll even find another one in OHIO to chat with (HINT: Use the search feature on the tool bar above and type in Ohio - see what comes up for you!!!) All my best wishes! katie
wenonah 0 Posted July 16, 2007 Kt and Terri, Thank you. Wondering Terri, thank you for the welcome! I believe this is just what I need. Also, wondering if you could tell me where to look to find instructions on here to add a ticker tape to my profile. On my way to the search Kt. Good luck on your surgery! TerriDoodle 6 Posted July 16, 2007 Here ya go... I found it a bit tricky and just blew it off. Obviously many aren't quite as idiotic as I am. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f5/how-get-ticker-your-signature-16218/
wenonah 0 Posted July 16, 2007 Terri, I should have ask this on the previous thread but how about all the forum info, etc. I know it is just a "click" but duh, it seems to be evading me...(normally fairly intelligent woman, go figure!)

juliegeraci 7 Posted July 16, 2007 It is normal to feel this way towards food. I miss it too. Just try and stay focused on why you had the surgery in the first place. Good luck to you.
