Runner1 52 Posted October 19, 2015 I was never given any set numbers for calories or amount of Protein. I am wondering why my doctor wouldnt specify a certain amount. Im now 13 days post-op. I still on two Protein Shakes and two bottles of Water a day, I do a Protein Shake for Breakfast, Soup for lunch, and protein for dinner with water in between. He told me I could have one cream soup occassionally. Any thougts?
LessOfMe0503 157 Posted October 19, 2015 Maybe they didn't give you a number yet because it is something you work up to? My goal is 60 grams of Protein a day. I'm 2 months out and I don't meet the goal unless I include a shake for the day. Two weeks post op, two shakes and some Soup is great!
Elode 8,093 Posted October 19, 2015 @@Runner1 I don't know your surgeons protocol but he/she probably wants you focusing on getting your fluids in right now and not so much calories. Most people can't get enough calories in that early out to worry about it. You could always call and ask.

When in doubt, call your doctor or NUT and ask for clarification
Runner1 52 Posted October 19, 2015 He never told me how he wanted me to eat either, and I notice most on here eat 6-7 times a day with a 30 mins limit per meal. I am just wondering, because Ive been taking my time getting my Protein and Soups down. Some times it takes 46 mins to finish a meal. It seems like the meals all run together and im drinking all the time.
LessOfMe0503 157 Posted October 19, 2015 I think that's pretty normal at the beginning.
OutsideMatchInside 10,166 Posted October 19, 2015 At 13 days all you do is drink Protein and Water. When you get on soft foods everything will be different.
