I'm pre pre op diet. I've been trying really hard to make the healthy changes now.

Right now I have such a craving for chocolate. I read some where a craving only lasts 19 minutes but this has lasted a few hours!

Someone tell me awful things will happen if I give in. I even had a chocolate Protein Shake but that didn't help.

Don't give in! You can do this, I know you can. Drink Water until you float, go for a walk, post on twitter, watch a funny cartoon. Do anything but break your pre-op diet.

FYI - Buy some cacao or cocoa powder. I find when I have a chocolate craving it help to punch up the Protein drinks with a bit of that for that real chocolate taste.

I feel your pain. I'm 4 days into my pre-op diet, but it's getting better. I curb the chocolate cravings by having chocolate Protein Shakes and sugar-free chocolate pudding. :) There's always a way!

YOU CAN DO THIS!

Ask yourself how bad you really want this surgery?

Ask yourself why losing weight is important to you?

Ask yourself if you understand the pre-op diet is for your safety. Compromising it can be dangerous. You are about to have significant internal surgery. Do I really want to jeopardize it ?

Ask yourself if you are truly ready ?

You've got this.

Through all the candy in the trash to avoid temptation. The rest of the family will just have to understand.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
