ThisWeightHasGottaGO! 33 Posted October 18, 2015 I had my Sleeve surgery on 9/30/15. I am currently eating normal foods but I'm getting heartburn after I eat! Typical small meals are Proteins and veggies, no breads/rice/potatoes type of carbs...before surgery whenever I ate breads/starchy carbs I would get heartburn. My surgeon did have to repair a fairly large hiatal hernia during my surgery. Anyone else have this experience?? Any suggestions??
umo 86 Posted October 18, 2015 My surgeon asked I take an antacid for 60 days after surgery. Talk to your surgeon and let them know what is going on. Hope this gets resolved soon.
thisfathasgot2go 235 Posted October 18, 2015 I agree with the suggestion to get a prescription for an anti-acid. Are you eating slowly and chewing enough? NOTE: I am not at the soft foods stage yet.
BLERDgirl 6,417 Posted October 18, 2015 You need a PPI such as prilosec or the genric omeprazole. Your body hasn't caught up to your new tummy yet and is producing the same amount of acid in a much smaller space. Additionally that new tummy is working hard to break down all the high Protein you are feeding it. You can buy OTC or ask your doctor for a prescription. liannatx 897 Posted October 18, 2015 I was sent home with a prescription for a PPI. I now just buy generic Omeprazole... I still take it.
