bbp4114 7 Posted October 17, 2015 Hi! I'm officially on the mandatory Dr. supervised diet for insurance purposes. How much did you lose during this part of the process? What happens if you don't lose? Will insurance deny the surgery? I'm eating well and getting my 10,000 steps a day, but not seeing much movement on the scale. Thanks! umo 86 Posted October 17, 2015 Congratulations on your journey. I had to lose 5% of my weight. For me it was surgeon required to prevent problems during surgery due to large liver. It is for your own safety and better surgical outcome. My surgeon had a disclaimer that if I did not lose he could refuse operating on me. Not sure of the insurance aspect though. Just follow the diet and you should lose, it is hard especially knowing where you are headed but keep trying. Good luck!
thisfathasgot2go 235 Posted October 17, 2015 I did the kaiser mandatory 3 month pre-op diet. From my first class on Jun 16 to my surgery date of Oct 7, I lost from 225 to 196. No liquid diet. Just walking 30 minutes 5 days a week and eating 1200-1400 calories a day.
