Recommended Posts

I'm aloud to have soft foods now so I made chili. This was my first time making it and the kids loved it and I enjoyed the food.< /p>

@@Smallfry06 You will get there. I just had a salad but I make the mistake of getting full on veggies and then I don't get my protien in as much. I add meat and cheese but not enough. I get the shredded lettuce at Walmart (like for tacos) it's already cut up so its easy to eat instead of big chunks.

My program was at 6 weeks. I don't really eat salad though, it takes up too much room, and I don't feel like I can eat enough to get the level of nutrition I can get from eating other green veggies.

Don't you have a handbook to tell you what you can eat when?

I needed to use up some pulled pork I made over the weekend so I added some onion, peppers, corn and Beans. Topped with red salsa, crema (like sour cream), green salsa and avocado. ????????

Thanks! It was quite delicious. I use this method to use up any leftover meat I need to turn into something different. It works great with any pre-cooked meat, especially pulled pork, chicken or ground beef.

Last night I threw together a "taco" casserole, and I'm having leftovers tonight. I just layered a can of refried Beans, a pound of taco-seasoned ground turkey, a cup of taco sauce, and a cup of shredded colby-jack cheese in an 8 x 8 pan. Then I baked it at 375 for 25 minutes. Yum! My husband ate his wrapped in a low-carb tortilla.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
