What's for dinner?

Recommended Posts

OK Monday, work day. That means crockpot.... threw in chicken breasts, left over Portobello mushroom Soup, cilantro, fingerling potatoes and lemon. Hope it turns out O.K.

Like many others have mentioned, I am all about my crock pot these days. Its so easy and has so many options. One of my favorites is baking chicken in the crock pot. Once it is completely cooked, I shred it with a fork. Add a splash of olive oil, a little bit of garlic salt and mix it all together. Turns out great, has plenty of flavor, and is low fat.

Last night I made Cheesy Ham & Cauliflower Casserole: http://lostsentiments.blogspot.com/2013/03/cauliflower-mac-and-cheese-with-ham.html

I upped the ham to 3 cups and reduced the cheese in the sauce to 2 cups (first time in my life I've ever reduced the amount of cheese in a recipe!!). I served it with green Beans. A bit high in the calories and fat, but low in carbs. Very yummy, kinda like au gratin ham and potatoes.

My surgery was June 15th. Yup, the liquid stages suck, but it'll be over soon... hang in there!

I like fish because you get more bang for your calories and Protein and don't feel stuffed.

That is 6.5 ounces of fish and 1.2 ounces of zucchini.

The whole family( and the puppy) came for chicken ( Mary's air chilled) quinoa and green beans.... The key lime pie birthday son asked for was too tart for me. He loved it... And went home with the extra servings...

Kansas City win was just a topper

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
