That full feeling?!

Recommended Posts

I'm 4 days post rny and have yet to get that full feeling, granted i am still on full liquids. Is this because I'm still healing inside and because liquids won't make me full?? I'm over here worrying that I'm not getting the full effects of this surgery! Help!

Don't worry so much about it. It takes a while to get used to your new tummy.

It is not possible for you to feel actual hunger at this point and feeling full really is a different feeling than feeling overful.

If you are feeling hunger at the point it is likely dehydration or head hunger. Dehydration can actual feel exactly like you are hungry, try sipping more often. For me, I had to hold that cup literally in my hand until I trained myself to get all my liquids in.

If after you get to your liquid goals (48 to 64 oz.), you still are feeling hunger then it is your head telling you that you are hungry. This is something you will battle throughout. You have to go do something to get your mind off of it. Go for a walk, go do dishes, read a book, anything to get your head to a different place.

I will say that first week post op is rough because I actually felt week. I started to feel better once I got to full liquids and was able to add Protein shakes.

Hang in there, it will get easier.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
