I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say YES, it's normal! That's why in my 2 week pre-op liquid diet I'd add my shakes to hot coffee to make lattes with the vanilla and hot chocolate with the chocolate. I'm 6 months post-op and still freezing to death. Maybe there is some truth to why they call warm ooey gooey foods "comfort" foods - LOL!

Beach gal - that would be great except I was told no more coffee for life due to it being a cause of stomach problems. Isn't it funny how Dr.s are different for same procedures?

I became constantly cold and found that my Iron was low. I always got cold easy, but I became chilled to the bone in the middle of summer. My iron was the culprit. Rule that out.

That is wild.

I noticed the same thing a week or so into the deal.

Now.....4 days post-op, I stay fairly cool and comfortable....no ridiculous sweating or being hot.

The only exception to this is when I take a swig of the liquid pain meds for when I get up and walk around. I'm still using them due to the abdominal hernia repair.....zero pain from the sleeve.

When I take the pain meds I'll get hot and yucky feeling for a while.

Go buy a lot of sweaters because you are going to need them. The feeling cold started about 1 week preop during my liquid diet and has gotten worse. I am 6 months postop. My Iron level is fine. All of my levels for that matter. I sleep with flannel sheets and a heavy blanket every night. My poor husband. I wear boots because they at least keep my feet warm. I live in Houston so the a/c is on everywhere still. It hasn't even gotten close to cold outside and I am a little scared. Luckily the number of hot days outnumber the cold days here.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
