Norton Weight Management Center in Louisville, KY

Recommended Posts

Is anyone else going through Norton Weight Management Center in Louisville, KY for their VSG? I have my two hour assessment scheduled for Nov. 6th, but I am wondering how long after this the surgery will be scheduled.

Hi! I am going through this center and my surgery is scheduled for this coming Wednesday, the 21st! They are very helpful!!!

As far as your seminar goes, are you referring to the information seminar before you start everything?

If so, you will go to the seminar, get all the information you need from them and fill out the packet of information for the center. You should go ahead and call your insurance company and see how long they require you to be seen by your PCP (primary care physician). I have Humana, I had to be seen for 6 months.

On your 4th month, you will come in to the center for your full evaluation with the staff. One thing they did not tell me is to go ahead and start scheduling your cardiac and pulmonary clearances on that day! They take a while and I was held up by them. Finish your clearances and last two months of PCP visits and you will be ready to turn it in and submitted to insurance for approval.

Once approved my surgery was scheduled within 3 weeks!

Good luck!

I actually did the seminar in August. My insurance (Passport) doesn't require the 6 month wait. I've turned in all of my paperwork, and I had my insurance *verified*. I guess I didn't know I had to do cardiac and pulmonary clearances. Hopefully these clearances go quickly, but I know that is wishful thinking!

I also didn't expect this two hour assessment to be scheduled three weeks after the insurance verification. I think the assessment is a psych evaluation, consult with the surgeon, and paperwork, but I'm not positive. I guess I'm still confused!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
