gatzpup 0 Posted July 15, 2007 I've been reading this forum for the past several months and thought I'd introduce myself today.

Early this year, during my physical with my doctor (who is also my personal friend), she suggested I look into the lap band surgery. I was surprised she suggested it, because I never thought I would be a candidate for it. I am 37 and my weight has fluctuated from 210 to 225 during the past few years.

After her suggestion, I decided to go to an informational seminar (April '07). I've been going thru the process ever since (I barely qualify). After lots of paperwork, a visit with a dietitian, nurse, and counselor, and a sleep study (to confirm what I already knew - I do not have sleep apnea), I finally get to see the surgeon (Louisville - Dr. Jeffry Allen) on July 27.

Can anyone tell me what to expect from that point? I don't think my insurance has even approved this yet. Hope I've not gone this far for nothing!
hoosierpoms 0 Posted July 15, 2007 I was waiting on insurance approval for about 28 days. AS soon as I got my approval, I made my pre-op appointment, and than set the date 10 days after that visit. I was on a 10 day liquid diet for those days, and it was hard, but I made it through. I did cheat and eat some lean chicken at times, but more towards the start of it than later. After surgery, I was back at work in 2 weeks. Some go back sooner, but I chose to stay home the extra week. Good luck and I hope you dont have to wait too long... allwright 0 Posted July 15, 2007 Hi there, I go to the same office in Louisville and see Dr. Tanner. Great group! You are doing the right thing by getting everything in order. Getting the Psy eval, seeing the dietician, sleep study, stress test, all go along with the info most insurance companies require. What insurance do you have(if you don't mind saying). I attended the seminar in Sept 06 and was banded in Mar 07.
