OMG how in the hell do people drink this?!?

Recommended Posts

@@Sajijoma I've never tried them but I'm going to take your expert opinion and steer clear of these. My current fave drink is the Protein2o Water. I love the mild taste but sometimes I'll enhance it with flavored liquid Stevia. You just can't beat 15g of Protein, 70 calories and 2g carbs in a 16 oz. bottle! Not only that but now my Walmart has them in stock. If anyone is interested, just go to their website drinkprotein2o.com and do a store search in your city. If they aren't local for you then you can order a 12 pk from them or Amazon for the same price. Thanks for posting this :D

It would suck all the moisture out of my tongue and even my lips if it touched them. I hated it. I thought it was just me, but my son tried it and had the same thing happen. They taste gross......on a different note, I bought the alpine punch powder and it was really good.

I had tried the Isopure ice tea with lemon before surgery and liked it fine, but it has caffeine so I didn't get any more for post-op. But I wanted something that was clear, for the Clear liquids days. They are just so sickeningly sweet - like jolly ranchers someone said and I definitely agree!

However, I've been using the Isopure Zero Carb powder, both vanilla and chocolate, for over a year now, mixed with almond milk and I like them, as well as the Syntrax chocolate truffle and Peanut Butter cookie I recently bought. I've tried most of the Syntrax fruity flavors (with water) in my pre-op liquid diet and they were OK, but none I wanted to go buy a giant bottle of.

I have been adding small amounts sugar-free Jello or pudding mix to my vanilla isopure to give me some other flavors.

I really enjoy the Syntrax Nectars over crushed like snow cone ice. I can't take a big drink or it hits my eject button and spews out, but if I sip it(like I'm suppose to eventually anyway) it's actually very pleasant and not a chore like the Premier Protein. I got some Matrixx samples recently too. I think the names like Peanut Butter cookie and chocolate cake lured me it! ???? I haven't tried them yet though.

Lol all these posts about Protein sampling is cracking me up. I'm glad I'm not alone in my search. I wonder how much money is spent searching for a protein that can be tolerated.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
