Living outside my comfort zone!

Recommended Posts

I went zip-lining today and loved it!! It was a blast. There was also an ariel obstacle course which was super challenging but fun too!!

It is so amazing to do things now without all my weight holding me back. I have been setting mini non weight related goals and zip lining was one of mine!! Every time I do something out of my comfort zone I am amazed at the freedom this surgery has given me!!!

Then to top the day off I had a wonderful dinner with friends and family, then a trip to Ulta, Sephora, and Bare Minerals- scored some free stuff!!

It was my birthday and it was oh so happy!!

What else has everyone else done that they never thought they would do prior to surgery?

@elode- I had a birthday email from those stores. Got a free bare minerals eyeliner, a free lipgloss, and a nars lip pencil. But those stores are money sucking pits... Of course I had to slip I some eyeshadow and more nail polish in too. Had to pay for those.

I am a product junkie. LOL

1-Happy birthday ! 2- Zip lining AND free stuff at the makeup stores ? Next time count me in ! And what have I done after surgery versus before surgery ? Where do I start ? Ran 2 miles without stopping, walked ( and played !) an 18 hole golf course almost the whole way. Push ups ! Pilates classes. And in the next year or 2 ? A 3 day pack trip on horses, up and down a mountain. Bucket list !!!

@@glitter eyes - that's inspiring!

I think being able to climb up and down ladders at home and squeeze in between the machines here at work without the fear of getting stuck are two things I have enjoyed -84 lbs!

I love being able to effortlessly get up after sitting on the floor having a discussion with my students.

What else... I love being able to paint my toes!

What else... buying clothes at regular stores rather than plus size stores. What a thrill!

Oh... Being able to walk down the aisle of an airplane without having to turn sideways. Feel like Twiggy over here and I'm "only" 64 pounds down...!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
