First milestone at 12 weeks out!

Recommended Posts

I am so excited today! ! I got on the scale and it read 199!! I am 12 weeks out as of today and I reached my first major milestone- I'm under 200lbs!

That is a total loss of 75lbs (68lbs since surgery 75 including the 2wk pre op diet) I am so happy!

I have gone from a size 24 to a size 16.

This surgery has literally saved my life. It is BY FAR the best money I could ever have spent!! I am so

thankful everyday that I was able to do this. This forum has given me the best support system. I know that whenever I have questions or doubts I can get answers and support right here. It is an amazing tool.

My next goal is to get to a size 12 by Christmas.... fingers crossed!!

I think Onederland is the most psychologically significant milestone most of us can hit (unless we started in the very low 200s). It is special, and provides a renewal of purpose and confidence. It looks like we went on the table at the exact same weight, OP. I am 10 weeks out today (partly due to a one-week postponement for the surgeon's vacay), and I am 12 lbs away. I set myself a goal of 10/22 for Onederland, of which I will obviously fall just short, but I am nonetheless extremely happy. I am down to around 3 lbs/wk max now, which was frustrating when it hit, but probably means the weight loss is real and permanent. Congratulations!

Thank you everyone for all the kind words!!

I know that we are not supposed to focus on the numbers- normally I just focus on how much better I feel and the fact that my clothing is getting looser- but I was pretty freaking excited to see that 199 this morning!!

@- yes we are just about the same- awesome job on your progress!!!

@OKCPirate- yes, you are so right!! I feel that this is one time that the numbers ARE a big deal!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
