They cut you, poked around inside and closed you up. Yeah, soreness is to be expected.

I didn't feel sore as much as I felt bloated, with a super tight abdomen.

It gets better.

It gets better every day.

Keep moving and walking. I was walking a few hours after my sleeve surgery Tuesday. I thought they were insane getting me up a few hours after surgery.

Turns out it was the best move possible. Up....walking.

Seems counterintuitive when you are hurting so bad but it is absolutely the ticket.

Best wishes on your healing.

The pain is usually more from that blasted gas they pump into you. It can be very painful and the only thing that helps is Water, walking, gas X and heat packs.

Walk like crazy and sip sip sip.

Welcome to the losers club!

I had surgery Monday and came home last night. Walking helps so much with soreness and bloating/gas. The more you walk the easier it comes. Take your pain meds since they are offered and ask for nausea meds too. It'll get a little easier everyday.

Had surgery on a Thursday... Fri/Sat at home were awful. Felt bloated and like I had been kicked in the stomach a bunch. Sunday/Monday I felt much better and no longer needed any pain meds. Tuesday I felt pretty much normal and went back to work on Wednesday for about 6 hours (desk job.) You'll start feeling better pretty soon, so hang in there!

Congrats on your surgery! Hang in there. You should see improvement in the days/weeks to come. At. 11 weeks out I can say confidently that it definitely gets better!

I can with near 100% certainty, guarantee that you will try food again, lol. Hang in there. Probably just a too bit thick for you... thin it out more with skim milk.

@ Thepostopt I ate pudding and it got stuck!' So uncomfortable!!!!! I am never going to try food again!!

Sorry to hear about the pudding. Are you doing okay with Water, broth, sf Popsicles? Those were my staples early on.

This early out I wasn't even eating pudding yet, so if you're having issues I'd go back to broth, etc.

If it persists, be sure to check with your doctor though, as I've never been stuck myself. I'm 11 weeks out.

Don't try and rush new things. You've still got a lot of healing to do. Feel better.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
