What am I doing? I start my liquid diet tomorrow. So what do I do for supper? I go out with my BFF and we share some appetizers and I have a mudslide. Because they are things I probably won't have again. I totally went crazy. Now the regret sets in. I have to lose 10-15 lbs in the next 14 days to have my surgery from lap band gone terribly wrong to RNY. Why would I sabotage that for some queso and liquor? I mean really. What a bad choice!!!

Don't be so hard on yourself. Most of us have that lovely food funeral before surgery.

Now, just get back on track immediately tomorrow so you can accomplish your required weight loss. Tomorrow is the first day of the rest of your new life and it is going to be a great new life!

Good luck!

If you stick to your preoperative diet, you won't have any problems with losing 15 pounds. Now to address your support system! Is this person going to be able to help you in future or sabatage you? Better have a conversation now!

Had the topic. Feel she will. The food funeral was more me then her. However the pre op diet is KILLING ME!!!! How do people do it. I don't mind shakes but broth and Jello. ??? Everything in the house smells sooooo good. It's crazy. But so far so good. Two days down 11 to go.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
