Hi all, i have a question for everyone. i was sleeved on 9/28 and this past Monday was the beginning of my 3rd week and so i started pureed foods. My question is this.. every time i eat i can't tell if i'm full or not. i'm not into weighing so i just eyeball everything. I, so far, have had no issues with any foods either. Everything is going down fine and i'm not feeling queasy at all. Is this normal for some people and once my new tummy heals do you think it'll tell me then when i feel full? Thanks!!

I am post sleeve 9/30, and just started on Soup. I don't feel stuffed but I eat slowly now and just eat a small amount. I don't have the eat and get stuffed right away

You said, "i'm not into weighing so i just eyeball everything."

Have you not been given guidelines for eating from a bariatric nutritionist? If so, why are you "testing" your sleeve so early in your recovery period. Has no one given you any guidance on eating plans at all?

This early in your stage you are not supposed to be eating until you feel full or stuffed.

I was also sleeved on the 28th. At this point you really should be measuring everything and not going over 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup per meal at the most. I'm lucky to eat about two ounces of food a few times a day at the moment.

If you are not into measuring, get some bowls that you know only hold ¼ - ½cup and use those. I even have a serving spoon that has a measuring cup attachment.

I was sleeved 23 weeks ago and even now it's hard for me to feel the fullness. It's all so different compared to before the surgery. I would recommend measuring just to be safe. When I eyeball things and then measure, I find I tend to under estimate the amounts.

When i say i eyeball it's because i know what a 1/4 and 1/2 cup looks like on a plate. i also use ramekins which don't hold more than a cup. I know i'm eating properly but what i'm saying is that "full" feeling is gone. Maybe i'm just not expressing myself the right way but i don't know another way to say it. i'm also not saying that overly stuffed i'm going to burst fullness, i mean when you just start to feel full and you know that one more bite will make you "overstuffed".

Likely that "full" feeling is gone because you no longer have any internal swelling. You you want to fell sated, not full. Full often means you ate too much or close to it.

I was sleeved on 9/29 and feel the same way. I know I'm eating the right amount, but don't get that stop when you feel full like the NUT said. Still thankful for not getting queasy and haven't vomited.

I am in my 3rd week and had new foods added this week. Like you, I had never felt full. I tried a sweet potato and I was stuffed after four very small bites. I think you will start feeling the restriction as you move to more solid foods.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
