Well today is the day my papers were submitted to bcbs of sc. Scared, excited, nervous all at once. I'm trying to not get my hopes up in case I get denied, but I'm thinking positive. When the surgeon ran my insurance it stated I only needed 2 supervised NUT appointments, when I called they told me 6 months. Idk let's see how this goes.

@@Jennie7607 - God Speed in this. It's difficult navigating through insurance. Keep an eye on Mexico. Look at the cost of your time vs. insurance co-pays. It would have been $2500 with insurance plus hours of their damn stupid classes all at a 3rd grade level or $4500 to do it myself in Mexico. Easy choice IMHO. Rant over. Good luck in you journey, it I can offer any insight, let me know.

@@OKCPirate thank you! I was so excited bc I didn't have to pay anything out of pocket due to my deductible and max oop being met. I'm going to cross my fingers and say that if it doesn't go through, there was a reason for it. Then keep on trucking along for the next few months.

@@AllisonK1986 - I'm actually not in sc. I'm in PA. My husbands employers is based out of NY. We did have BCBS of Rochester but they switched, or got bought out and now we have this one.

I live in Georgia......work in South Carolina. My employer is going from United Health Care to BCBS South Carolina.

They are just the plan administrators and I suspect the actual coverage categories will remain the same as they are stipulated by my employer.

I hope it all works favorably with you.

I can say that years before, when we were BCBS SC, the administrative part was much easier to deal with than it was with United Healthcare. UHC seemed to be cumbersome and difficult.

UHC sure ran me around through the obstacle course leading up to my sleeve surgery. I think you'll be better served by BCBS.

Best of luck to you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
