I find myself hungry at lot and it is starting to bother me. Need some advice. I usually workout for an hour 5 to 6 days a week, running 3 or 4 of those days, walking and weight training the other days. I eat but I am hungry a lot. Here is my typical food day.

Breakfast (before working out): A banana, Protein Bar, yogurt, a piece of Jerky or two boiled eggs. I try to drink a little Water but not enough to fill me up. (Can’t workout on a full tummy. Learned that the hard way. LOL!).

When I get to work, I will have a yogurt or smart one egg breakfast sandwich. A little later I will drink water. I usually have a cup of coffee (sometimes two) before noon).

Snack: Jerky, applesauce, Protein Bar, plain Peanut Butter or nuts. (Sometimes I forget to eat the snack)

Lunch: tuna or grilled chicken breast on top of some lettuce or a small salad or some leftovers from the night before.

Afternoon: Drink more water; a Protein shake, nuts, rice cake or cheese/crackers

Drink shake or water on the way home.

Dinner: Whatever I cook. Maybe fish or chicken and veggies. Will eat a few roasted potatoes or a few mouthfuls of rice sometimes but I try to stay away from bread and rice as much as possible.

Late night snack: Nuts or yogurt or jerky and water

I will eat some chips or chocolate covered peanuts every once in a while as a treat but not often.

Even with all of the water I drink, I am hungry a lot. I eat everything on a saucer. What doesn’t fit, I don’t eat. A lot of the time, I will eat 3 or 4 ounces of meat and leave the rest to nibble on later. What am I doing wrong? The scale is not moving but I am working out like a mad woman.

I am no expert, but are you losing inches still? Muscle weighs more than fat...so if you are losing inches and not lbs, I really wouldn't worry. Personally, I am terrified of eating carbs...so I would like to hear an expert weigh in, but that is the only thing I can see wrong with your meals, but that is my opinion....

You're going to think I'm crazy for saying this, but I would cut back on your workouts. Cut back one day, continue to eat the same and see what happens.

I was working out too much and could not eat enough to compensate. As soon as I cut down my workouts to 3 sometimes only 4 days a week and eating a bit more, the weight would come off again. It's a common issue, actually.

This all looks good. Maybe try upping the calories a little bit. Add more healthy fats like nuts, avocados or had boiled eggs. I don't think you are doing anything wrong, it sounds like your activity level is just burning through what you are eating. It also sounds like you are close to goal, the body will hold onto those last few pounds.

I have to say, I agree with Babb's... you sound like you're exercising too much.

Are you lifting weights. My nutritionist feels that cardio and weight work should be in equal parts for women. Cardio makes you hungry and weight training builds lean muscle which raises your metabolism.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
