Progress documentation suggestions

Recommended Posts

Hi to everyone,

No operative date scheduled yet, but am in the process of meeting my psychologist and dietitian next week. I am wondering how everyone is documenting their progress and whether you wished you had done it differently? I'm using myfitnesspal.com and took initial measurements and photos. What are you suggestions?

I haven't had surgery yet, but I also took pictures and plan on taking measurements the night before surgery. Something else that I am doing is Mason Jars and Marbles. So I have two mason jars one is labeled To Lose (how many lbs I want to lose) and the other is labeled Lost(how many lbs I've lost). So I counted out the marbles by how much I want to lose and put them in the To Lose jar, and as I lose weight I will move the marbles from one jar to the other. Just something fun to do. I saw someone do it on Youtube and thought it was pretty cool.

I like that idea, a visual reminder of goals met and goals to meet.

I should have taken measurements before I started this whole process...the scale (my worst nemesis) does not want to move but apparently i already look smaller. so i would encourage the measurements since sometimes all the work may no show on that nasty scale.< /p>

Good luck to you!

Thanks, I did get a full set of measurements about one month ago and will wait another month before i retake them, although I feel as if all my clothes do fit a bit looser. Good luck for your upcoming surgery. I look forward to hearing how well you will do

Just did a review of my measurements and have lost a total of 16 inches when i last

did the measurements five weeks ago. I had measured the neck, waist, breast, hips,

arms and legs. Also have lost a total of 19 lbs since my highest in mid july this year. I have my second of three visits to the nutritionist on this monday and will also

see the psychologist. Trying to stay focus on what i need to do and enjoying it too! Still feel like the day for surgery is far off, but I know it will come around soon

enough and the more i lose before the better for safety and comfort.

I love the marble idea! I still need to measure. I'm going to use the weight from my first appointment with surgeon because I've fought off every ounce that I've lost pre-surgery.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
