I see a dermatologist regularly. If fact my dermatologist is also helping me monitor my hair. Turns out I have a quarter sized spot on my scalp that is scarring alopecia and the rest is likely reversible. My skin however got a big thumbs up from her. Despite the trauma of facial shingles and losing over 100lbs my face looks good. No sagging and only minor crows feet. I'll stick with the coconut oil. Water based lotions rarely work for people of color.

I had one for years at the recommendation of my former esthetician and because I loved what my Sonicare has done for my teeth. I thought it was great, except my skin kept breaking out. I replaced the bush heads every 45 days (germ freak) and cleaned them daily with alcohol. They are rough on your face and I tried every single brush they made, including the sensitive skin one. My skin wasn't getting better.

Clarisonic pays for a lot of product placement (most brands do), and they are very aggressive with it. It is beneficial to Sephora, and Ulta to push the Clarisonic with the brush costs, it is beneficial to them.

I switched to the Foreo over a year ago. My skin improved immediately. It is soft and gentle on the face, more hygienic and no brushes to replace. A Foreo will pay for itself in the first year just off what Clarisonic brushes cost in a year.

The only thing I use my Clarisonic for is exfoliation my elbows and knees, since I couldn't sell it on eBay.

Clarisonic's are actually incredible for your face. That's why most dermatologists and estheticians sell and recommend them. I'm not sure where you got your info from, but you're supposed to replace the brush heads every three months.

I love CeraVe too. I buy the tub at Walgreens for about $10. One of the few creams that takes away that dry crepey look from my hands. Coconut oil is one of favorite standbys as well.

Skin care is as different as the DNA we are made of. Every one will have different outcomes with different products. There's no right or wrong. It's find what's best for you! I just hope my skin doesn't get "use" to this.

Agreed, but I would caution using any products that contain alcohol anywhere near my face or on products that go near your face. Alcohol is *really* bad for the skin. When I wash my brushes I am almost fanatical about rinsing them off since some brush cleaners can contain alcohol. As for break outs, the last one I had was maybe 3 years ago when I tried argon oil.

Not all alcohols are the same. Cetyl alcohol and stearyl alcohol are good alcohols, they are fatty alcohols and emollients and in a complently different class than straight alcohol or rubbing alcohol.

CeraVe contains cetyl alcohol which is a good alcohol. Which is why dermatologist recommend CeraVe, for people with dry skin.

I wouldn't put the body lotion on my face though, they make a line of face products.

I have tried their face line and it is too thin and did not stop the flaking. I live in a desert climate, so maybe that is why a cream works well on my face.

Then cerave I bought (pictured) is the one for super dry skin. I don't know how well the regular stuff works, I'm not a normal girl :)

CeraVe totally ROCKS. I actually use the body lotion on my face. It's thicker, and it doesn't contain sunscreen (I use a separate sunscreen). I have super-sensitive skin and it has never looked better. I started using a Retin-A/hydroquinone product prescribed by my dermatologist and while my skin was adjusting to it, CeraVe calmed my skin down really well.

If you read the labels, there is very little difference between the facial lotion and the body lotion - the body lotion comes in a bigger size, though.

I had posted about my face being dry on a support group on Facebook I am part of. I ended up using some whipped coconut oil that we had from my little girl when she was a baby. I bought a big jar of coconut oil from costco and my sister in law whipped it. It works good and doesn't cost much. It also does not have an lady like smells added to it. A little on my face and hands in the AM and I'm good to go.

@@dlappjr I've never used whipped coconut oil but I have two jars of the organic coconut oil. I was using it for hair tx and skin. It just didn't do much for my skin. Maybe for an hour then gone. This stuff stays with me all day and then some. I put it on in the AM and before bed. I think I paid $16 for it. Well worth the money!

@@jaxmom1974 What is that? Is it over the counter or something you get from your dermatologist?

Hyanurolic acid is naturally found in your skin, and between you joints. It's what keeps your joints oiled and your skin plump and supple. I get mine on Amazon. I buy the jolee brand. It's a serum. It lasts a good while too. Just put it under your moisturizer. My derm sells it for way more so I that's why I get it on amazon.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
