Are the meds helping at all? I was prescribed some meds as well i was on the fence about taking them dont want any extra side effects but i also need the help

The meds have really helped. I'm against a lot of medications just because of how I feel they make me feel. Personally, he prescribed me Xanax to help with the anxiety at night. I don't take if every night, but when things are bad I do. It helps. If you're prescribed something, this means your doctor feels the benefits outweigh the negatives. I would give it a try and see what happens. And yes, it does take time. Most days I feel like I'm losing my mind but it's getting better.

I'm the anxiety queen. Before, during, after surgery. I feel like psychiatrists are the only doctors trained in this area who know exactly what they are doing when prescribing meds. Hang in there til you see one. If you are concerned about side effects, just google the medication and you will find a list of those. A psychiatrist should be able to evaluate what kind of med you need, maybe his testing will show a problem with depression as well. A good psychiatrist will tell you that prescribing meds that work with your brain chemistry can take some time. My first psychiatrist told me that if you're very very very very lucky, the first drug you try will work perfectly. If you are very very very lucky, the second one will work. And so on. You have to be persistent in your search. Psychiatrist can also recommend psychologist who has a good success rate with anxiety patients. Good luck in your search. I hit the right med first try.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
