drodriguez1 6 Posted October 18, 2015 I'm in the same boat. I lost 18lbs total and have been in a stall for over a week. Pretty annoying. I too will refrained from weighing myself for a bit.
Basia 2 Posted October 19, 2015 Milk of magnesia works for me-you may need to take 4tbsps to have it kick in. Good luck:(
The Candidate 3,215 Posted October 19, 2015 I started taking a stool softener everyday. Haven't been constipated since.
twinhappy 79 Posted October 20, 2015 Smooth Move tea will clear you right out! It takes about 6-8 hours for me so I would suggest doing it in the late afternoon or when you can be at home until you are finished with the bm.
SleeveMe247 184 Posted October 20, 2015 I am about 2 weeks out of surgery. My starting weight was 247. After the liquid diet, I was 236 the day of surgery. Two weeks later I am 225 for a weight loss of 22 lbs. However, it seems like since I started adding soft foods, I am stuck and have not lost anything in around 5-6 days. I think I'm staying around 700-800 calories a day. I don't have daily caloric goals but here is what I ate yesterday: Breakfast: 1 scrambled egg Lunch: less than 1/2 an avocado and some cheddar cheese Dinner: maybe 5 bites of pulled pork. This started to not settle well and I panicked a little thinking it was not soft enough so I just quit eating it. Snack: 5 bites of sugar free Jello, 1 Protein drink (30 g) Other days have been similar. I am getting in my Water. I do understand the stall and I also may be retaining Water because of my cycle. I also REALLY need to go to the restroom. I asked my nurse a week ago and she said take Milk of Magnesia which I have been with no success. Those could all be my issues but if I'm doing something wrong eating wise then I'd like to know about it now. At this point, it seems like it was easier to lose weight before the surgery! My doctor recommended Miralax and now I go daily. I tried the Smooth Move tea, saline enema and dulcolax suppository they all made me cramp...but the Miralax did it! You mix it in something and it has no taste. Worth every penny!
SleeveMe247 184 Posted October 20, 2015 Sounds like you are not drinking enough fluids...I went through this too and that was the problem. Combination of getting in more fluids and Miralax saved my life. Take your dose with some warm herbal tea, that will also help break things down. Maybe you should lay off cold drinks and try warm or room temp drinks for a little bit. I'm telling you all this from experience. It takes time for us to figure out what works for our new body. I was in and out the hospital due to nausea and vomitting my first month. Come to find out I wasn't drinking or popping enough lol so trust me I know what you're going through. Also cut back on solids and try warm Soups for a couple days. Andersen split pea Soup is my fav it goes down smooth and I feel it helps push things along as well. It will get better but lay off the solids for now and stick to full liquids until you can get some movement, otherwise things are just piling up!
SleevePerry 248 Posted October 20, 2015 My doc had me on soft foods and 700 calories/day at 2 weeks. Your weight is going to fluctuate throughout this process. I wouldn't sweat it. You aren't going to gain legitimate weight with that low calorie intake. Try not to weigh yourself, take measurements instead. Good luck!
Terri65m 0 Posted October 22, 2015 I'm 1 week out of surgery and I'm just starting my 2nd week so I'm on "Full liquid Diet" which is just a little more than all liquids and now I can go to my Protein Shakes too. It sounds like you're rushing things. On the diet from my Dr I can't have meat for another week, and that's like deli meats, like chicken turkey ham and baked fish. Pork isn't on my diet for a while.
