I had my lapband surgery Jan 08,2007 and sinse then i have lost about 10 pounds. Im really upset because I have seen all of the before and after pictures and they look amazing! But i cant get there. I have only had 3 fills done. I have been working out and eating less. Is there any hope? Did anyone have the same problem. Im actually considering having it removed if there isnt any results.

:o:rolleyes:help: Please ANYONE, have any advice, tips.. whatever it is im willing to do!

Thanks!

I wish I could be of help to you. I don't have a band, but I just went to the seminar for it. Anyway, they empasized 4 rules for success they are:

1) No liquid calories.

2) No eating and drinking at the same time. In fact wait 90 min. to 2 hours to drink after eating.

3) Eat protein/solid food and not soft (easy) food.< /p>

4) Try not to snack. Eat three meals a day and eat until you're full, but then stop.

They made it sound like as long as you follow these rules you will lose weight. They said you should reach that point of fullness at about a cup of food. Good luck to you!

Girl 07,

Have you counted calories? I was surprised at how many calories I was actually taking in (and still do at times) when I thought I was taking in about 800. It was well over 1200. When I'm watching it...1100-1200 is normal.

I think checking your Water intake is also important. Another person on this site also said, if you're expending more energy (burning calories) than you're taking in, there is no way for you to not lose. You might need another fill as well. What does your Dr. say?

I was banded in January as well and have lost 40-44 pounds...I'm bouncing on these four pounds lately. I also plateaued for about 6 weeks awhile back. But, I will lose more. You can do this as well.

Girl ~ I was banded on 1/31 and also struggle for awhile. I couple of things to consider is what size band to you have. I have the VG band (10cc), 1st fill 4 cc no restriction, 2nd fill 2 cc no restriction and 3rd fill 2 cc and some restriction finally. I have only lost 18 pounds since surgery the last 10 since my 3rd fill 5/31. I was very frustrated as well. If you still do not feel restriction schedule another appointment with your Dr, maybe you do need more.

You will feel it unfortunately it can take some time.

BTDT!!! I'm also a January Bandster. I JUST feel like I got restriction last week. I had to stay away from the January Bandsters thread. It was just bringing me down because I did not have the weight loss others have.

Just keep hanging in there. Once you get the proper fill the weight will come off.

Girl--before you do something drastic like having it removed see your Dr! Talk frank with them and COUNT calories. I was also amazed at what things REALLY add up to! You can do this, you want it, so tell them to help you! Also keep a food journal and SHOW it to them! Tell them you need to know how to make this work for YOU! Everyone is different, you may need more of a fill! Talk to the experts! That is what you pay them for after all!

Good luck and keep us updated!

I Felt The Same Way. I Had My Surgery Jan 2007 And Felt Like Giving Up Too. People Say Stick With It. You'll See The Results Soon. Even Today I've Only Lost 28 Pounds And Know People Who Have Lost Twice That Amount In A Much Shorter Time. I Keep Thinking "what Am I Doing Wrong". Even Though I Can't Eat A Large Amount Of food, I Sure Can Eat A Lot Of Sweets Cause They Go Down Easier. I Go For A Fill This Week And Hope That Will Take Away The Craving For Sweets...

Thanks Everyone for the support!

It's just so amazing the weight loss all of you have had. And im stuck! I think im going to try to be more careful in counting calories! It's just really weird because i never get hungry and i think it's that im stressing out alot over this.

The thing is that when I start eating i dont even finish my meal because i get really full. I have been eating once a day. Which my friends get on to me about because they say its not healthy but i dont feel hungry im good. I hate Breakfast and i eat middle i try not to eat after 6p.m. But still no weight loss.

I am going to make an appointment with my doctor and see what he suggest!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
