_Becca 0 Posted July 14, 2007 How long did you wait to start working out? When is it safe to do sit ups/ ab work? I am feeling pretty good after surgery and am ready to start doing something to get my body burning calories.
jfran 0 Posted July 15, 2007 I started walking around the house the day of surgery and was a little more active in the next couple of days. About 4-5 post op I started doing walking dvds but took fairly easy as far as intensity. By the second week I was increasing the length of time and intensity. Now-6weeks out, I am doing Hip Hop Abs dvds and loving them. I have done 8 or 9 workouts and can really see a difference. I would wait 3-4 weeks before you start working your abs, but do what feels good to you because I seriously doubt you will hurt your band. Good luck.
allwright 0 Posted July 15, 2007 My doc advised me not to do "abs" etc until 6 weeks allowing for the band to settle. He said that the area around the band would be inflamed as with any foreign object being placed in the body. 6 weeks allowed me to become familiar with the new restrictions, energy level, etc. Please check with your doctor before putting any stress or strain on the abdomen. Good luck with your new adventure!
