Stole my neighbors salt

Recommended Posts

Pre-op, I cooked without salt, because that's how I was raised in that my mom is super health conscious. But since surgery, I require salt. Returned to work a week ago; I live and work on the same campus. Decided I need to buy salt but was too tired after my walk to go get it so I stole that of my neighbor . She returned from leave today and I confessed. She smiled and looked at me strangely . She doesn't know I had the surgery and I have always given her grief about her salt intake.

I had issues with low blood pressure post-op and my doctor told me to "liberally increase my intake of salt". I actually have that written out in my patient plan! I haven't really been able to do it. I still don't ADD salt to things. I just don't worry about the sodium content of what I'm eating anymore. Blood pressure is still on the low side for me, but not medically considered "low". Seem to hang our right around 95/65 now.

I too always kept an eye on my salt intake. After surgery I don't worry about it and my blood pressure has gone down dramatically.

My blood pressure is much better since surgery, though it really wasn't bad to begin with. It's my tastebuds perhaps that are out of whack

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
