How much weight did you lose after your tummy tuck?

Recommended Posts

I'm scheduled for a Tummy Tuck on December 14th and I was wondering how much weight will I lose.

Totally depends on how much they are removing. Will vary person to person.

I would love to know this as well. I am 23lbs from goal. I plan to wait for plastics until I am 2 years post op and my weight stabilizes.

I set my goal on the top end of the healthy BMI for someone my height and bone structure. As I talk to people like my hubby and a few others all of them keep asking if I will get too thin if I get to goal and then have plastics because when I have my brachioplasty, lower body lift, breast augmentation and abdominalplasty that should remove even more weight.

Although I know I still have some to lose, I wonder if I set my goal too low given the plan for plastics. There are parts of my body that have no fat left and other parts like my arms, tummy and thighs where there is still fat.

Has anyone run into this?

My doctor told me I would lose 11-15 pounds with what I need to get rid of on my belly. I have to wait until my two year mark in December. Apparently two years out is pretty common.

Totally depends on you and how much subcutaneous fat you have left and if they do Lipo.< /p>

I lost down to the mid low end of my range and went down to an 18% body fat and so had (needed) no lipo JUST skin removal.

I had brachioplasty, Tummy Tuck and breast lift with augment. My implants weigh about 1.5 lbs total and the skin removed weighed about 5lbs.

I was below goal when I had my Tummy Tuck (Muscles untouched due to previous hernia mesh op)

I only lost 2.42lb (1.1 kilos) - Which surprised me.... As i really thought I would lose more than that but - As I said - It was only skin and no fat beneath it really. I have a fantastic result (Inverted T op) and 5yrs on I am still happy with it :-)

I did not focus at all on how much weight would be lost after - The only reason I asked how much was because I noticed the moment the swelling was gone my weight was exactly what it was before the op - Minus the amount removed so it made me know when the last of the swelling was gone etc.....

Good luck - Even all these years on - I am still so happy I did this. I am a new person and had I not been down this journey I really feel that psychologically I would have never felt anything like the happiness I do today :-)

In March. I lost 5 lbs w/ a Tummy Tuck and promptly got the flu for a week...

Another 5 lbs. At goal. For about 2 weeks

guess I didn't really lose it. It came back...same 10 lbs. ...flat stomach though ????

I am unfilled (banded) so that does not help...

Staying at same weight ...but gasping until my fill in 2 weeks

Ultimately depends on what you are having the surgeon do for you....mine says skin is not very heavy. So if you are having just skin removal without Lipo I would only plan for a few pounds. If you are getting lipo....totally different story. I had a lower body lift and breast lift and a good amount of skin removed only. It removed 7 pounds.

Between all my surgeries (360 body lift, brachioplasty, thigh lift, and breast lift/augment), she removed 10-12 pounds. However, a year later, my weight is the same as pre-op.

I lost about 10 pounds after my TT, but it was mainly because I was not able to eat basically at all for a while because of some small complications....I just had no appetite at all. Zero. When I asked the surgeon how much weight was actually because of the skin he said only maybe 2-3 pounds. But as others have said, it completely depends on each person individually. I didn't have a lot of "weight" I was carrying in my stomach; it really was just tissue.

By all means, wait until you've been at a stable weight for a couple of years. Eight years ago I lost 140 lbs. I had to have a hysterectomy when I was within 25 pounds of goal weight. My doc encouraged me to have a panniculectomy which I did. I have since gained the majority of it back and am having bypass in January. May not happen to any of you, but I was sure it wouldn't happen to me. This time I know this is so much more a mind/emotion thing than a food thing and have a psych who is promising to keep me hyper aware of that! Thank God!

So sorry to hear about your weight gain, of course we all fear that. I have been at my goal weight for 3 years (took me one year to get there) but in the past month I have gained 5 lbs and have now hit the reality that I must get this off before it becomes 10 lbs....and I'm really confident I can. Knowing my surgery is in Feb is an incentive because my doctor wants me to lose some weight before hand so it will be more successful. I am easing into the 5 day pouch test with doing the 5:2 this week....today being one of my fast days. I'm just curious though, it sounds like you think you should have waited to have the surgery until you were at goal weight? I can't imagine the trauma your body and your hormones went through with both a hysterectomy and a panniculectomy.< /p>

It was hard. On top of that, due to an undiagnosed bleeding disorder, I bled out during the surgery and essentially died. Thanks to my sister's and a nurse's fast acting, they caught it in time, but I ended up with another surgery to stop the bleeding.

My point in sharing about my panni and regain is that, in my experience and opinion, I had lost the weight but had no experience keeping it off. It may have worked as an incentive if my only problem was that I over ate. However, I now know that I am a food addict, for lack of a better word. Now I know I need just as significant head as weight changes. I wish someone had told me to let myself stay in maintenance for a year before I had done it. Many of you considering it have obviously done that.

@ choosehope...sounds like you have had a rough 8 years...however, you also seem like a realistic person and now you are taking the right steps. I have a question though...did you lose the 140 lbs on your own, or did you have the sleeve done, and are now coverting that to a bypass?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
