wanna_b_thin 0 Posted July 14, 2007 Hi Everyone I have just started the journey to a better life. I am 29 years ol and my BMI is 48. I have tried every diet out there and nothing has worked. Right now I have just started the process of getting one of the procedures done. I attended the seminar. The next step for me is picking which surgery I think best suits me, one of the bypasses or one of the bands. I am leaning toward the lapband but nothing has been decided for sure yet. I guess that is why I am here, to hear about others experiences and not be so afraid of having this done. So that is a little about why I am here. Just thought that I would introduce myself. Please let me know your experiences with the BAND, I would love to hear both successful and about struggles. Thanks!
KarenG. 0 Posted July 14, 2007 I just went for my consultation yesterday and the surgeon thought that the band was good for young women who want to have children in future if that is any help.
wanna_b_thin 0 Posted July 15, 2007 Thank you. I do still want to have children and that is definitally a deciding factor.
Pinkylee 7 Posted July 15, 2007 My advice to you is read, read, read. The June 06 bandsters (those having surgery in June of 2006) is a good place to start. Start at the first post and you'll see what the "journey" is like, week by week. The lapband is not automatic. It is labor intensive for most of us! There are several similarities to successful bandsters. In order of importance (in my opinion) 1. A positive attitude 2. Exercise every day 3. Keeping track of the food you eat (formal journaling is best, but a scrap of paper you keep track on each day will do) A high Protein version of South Beach diet is best 4. Drinking lots of Water 5. Taking Vitamins 6. A selfish attitude toward your journey. Put your needs first (maybe for the first time in your life) for at least 3 months. No new projects!
