Starting my journey

Recommended Posts

I've started my journey towards surgery. Sort of scary and nervous of the unknown. Had orientation and ready to start my 6 months of Preventure that my insurance requires in order to get them to cover the surgery I feel like the 6 months are going to drag on but also look at it as a positive to start practicing habits for when the surgery day does come. So far I have limited carbonated drinks to slim to none and started sipping Water and tea instead of slurping it down out of a straw. Still can't get thru meals without drinking...this one is going to be hard for me.

I would like recommendations in Protein Shakes and Multivitamins...I hate burping up Vitamins all day long so would like a good liquid or other possibilities...

Any advice wood be appreciated!

You are wise to begin your search for a Protein shake brand that you like or at least can tolerate. Find out the specific requirements of the program your surgeon uses. These can vary widly. My first surgeon required 100% whey isolate Protein.

The same goes for Vitamins. My first surgeon required a specific chewable bariatric Vitamin, however others have posted that they were allowed to use children's chewable vitamins.

Best wishes for a successful journey towards better health...

I love the premier Protein shakes....the vanilla is the best for me...no real bad after taste. I also use Flintstones chewable Vitamins....then I don't burp up all day.

Good luck to you!

Your daily Fluid requirements after surgery are met in several ways. They include drinks like Water and Crystal Light. The Fluid component in your Protein shakes count towards the requirement. Teas and Decaf coffee count. So does the liquid component in Soups. Another drink that I found to be good especially in the winter when it is cold and snowy is hot cocoa. The cocoa must be "no sugar added" and the milk must be 1% milk or lactose free; otherwise you might experience dumping syndrome. The advantage of this drink is that it counts towards your Protein requirement and also your fluid requirements.

I have difficulties with finding a good Protein Powder and shake. I have an allergy to whey Protein. Before I loved Jay Robbs strawberry made with almond milk, it was delicious! Tasted like a strawberry milk shake. Now I use organic Valley Organic Fuel

My surgeon requires whey Protein isolate be the first ingredient in Protein Powder. powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chocolate Splendor is my favorite so far.

Good luck in your journey! I started mine in April and I am scheduled for surgery on 11/4/15.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
