I need my surgery date to get here before I talk myself out of this.

I watched surgery videos on YouTube and other peoples stores after surgery.

Especially this woman with a failed sleeve. Apparently they made her sleeve too big or something and she lost like 40 lbs in a year so she had a revision to by pass.

I feel like all surgery revisions end up to a by pass.

Should I just get the by pass instead of the sleeve? I was really interested and excited about the sleeve and the lack of malabsorption etc. but now I'm not so sure.

Only you can decide. Read my story. It's linked in my bio. I started at 414, had ZERO issues and so far have lost 109lbs. I just had my surgiversary on 9/18. It's as much what you make it as it is whether you choose well when choosing a surgeon. It's about putting in the work pre and post op. At this point I am literally working my butt off trying to make sure this is successful for me. The people who have issues tend to be the most vocal, because really how many ways can you say, "This was easy!"?

So overwhelmed by the nutritionist appointment and fighting with the sleep study place and come to find out I have to wait until the first week of November to just have my home sleep study. Then if I have sleep apnea I have to have a lab study and who knows how long that will take and then wear my cpap for 30 days before surgery. I'll be lucky if we make it to the end of the year.

Unless I don't have sleep apnea then everything is ok and all this stress is for nothing lol.

Oh and all those Protein shakes I have and like (premiere protein), can't use them pre op because she wants me to have 5 shakes a day and they have too much Protein in those shakes. Theirs are waaaay too expensive to buy. I'm gonna have to figure some thing out.

Thoughts on lower Protein Shakes?

What if you thin out the protein shakes you have with half shake and half skim milk so that it lowers the protein per serving?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
