No juice here.

Might as well drink sugared Water.

I was told no juice as it contains too much sugar. However, I was at a friends house for brunch yesterday and she offered me about 4 ounces of Trop 50, blended with Syntrax vanilla Torte and it was delish!

It had Protein and less sugar/calories/carbs than plain ol' OJ. And it kicked that "I want Breakfast with a cup of O.J." craving I was having since before surgery.

Regular orange juice made me reallllly sick! Worst case of dumping. I accidentally drank it during week 1 post surgery. I wouldn't advise it. I have had trop50 with no problems but still in small amounts and diluted with ice cubes.

I was told no juice due to its high calorie and sugar content. My NUT did say if I'm really really craving it, to dilute it. 1oz of juice to 8oz of Water. However be careful with citrus, it might not sit right.

Just for your info, generally diabetic patients will drink OJ to recover when they go hypoglycemic because it has lots of sugar and the sugar in juice gets absorbed into the bloodstream so fast. For that reason alone, I would stay away from it. I am sure apple juice and grape juice (and probably any fruit juice) would be the same.

Just guessing here, but if you were to drink it, I would really dilute it (like 1 part OJ to 4 or 5 parts water). Probably not worth it diluted that much though.

Some of the other solutions recommended above sound like great ideas.

trop50 is ok according to my nutritionist... use the 10gms and under rule... (even tho they say 15 and under.. i play it safe with 10 and under) and maybe add a little Water or ice cubes

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
