dietbelle 36 Posted February 1, 2016 That's a long way to go for your operation.. Why so far?
Paula'sVSGLife 49 Posted February 1, 2016 That's a long way to go for your operation.. Why so far? I live between Australia and US so not so far for me... and the difference in price is amazing! There are some fantastic surgeons there too. I did a lot of research to find the right one.
dietbelle 36 Posted February 1, 2016 I am being operated on by Dr George Hopkins at Chermside Hospital.. I have health cover so it will cost about 6k all up I think?
dietbelle 36 Posted February 1, 2016 I am looking forward loosing this weight and with the help through his clinic keeping it off for life!
Paula'sVSGLife 49 Posted February 1, 2016 If you already have top health cover then you're already paying extra for the coverage of bariatric surgery. The quotes I got were $400+ a month for a single top cover policy!
Paula'sVSGLife 49 Posted February 1, 2016 So... for me $400 a month for 2 years (12 months waiting list and then 12 months post op) is already $10k.... and then another $6k out of pocket.
dietbelle 36 Posted February 1, 2016 Yes we are top cover but for a family. So this includes dental eyes etc plus with the new regulations you have to take out private health at age 30. Both of us as we work. So it is still costly but not so much with everything else health wise. Wouldn't it cost you lot for return airfares accommodation both in the Us and Mexico plus the operation plus follow ups?

Nope I live in Australia and also the US so don't need to pay for accommodation there.. and I have health insurance in USA. I am fitting the surgery in with my usual flights as I travel every 2 months between AU and USA so just an extra domestic flight. Surgery is still $10k cheaper than Australia!
